The Bidadi stretch of Kanakapura Road starts from Bengaluru and moves through areas like Banashankari, JP Nagar, and Anjanapura. After that, it passes Doddakallasandra and Konanakunte, then goes further to reach Bidadi town. Bidadi is about 30 kilometres from the city and is known for its factories, industries, and peaceful surroundings.
Kanakapura Road is being upgraded. The road is being widened from two lanes to six lanes. Service roads are also being added. This is important because more people are using this road every day—residents, factory workers, and even tourists.
Some parts of the road have been repaired and made smoother, especially after people complained about potholes and damaged stretches. But other parts still have problems like broken footpaths, traffic jams, and garbage piles.
The Metro Green Line now runs up to Silk Institute and Doddakallasandra stations. This metro line has helped thousands of people who live in this area travel easily to the city. Many people working in Electronic City and other IT areas now choose to live near Kanakapura Road because of this.
Buses also connect Bidadi to Mysuru Road and nearby towns. One of the useful routes is the 377H, which goes from Bidadi to Harohalli and connects people to important places. It takes around 40 minutes and is very helpful for daily commuters.
Kanakapura Road, especially the Bidadi stretch, is now a hot spot for home buyers & investors. It is not very far from Electronic City and offers more space and fresh air. Many people are buying plots, apartments, or villas in this area.
Property prices are going up. Basic apartments now cost around ₹7,000 to ₹12,000 per square foot. Luxury homes and gated communities cost around ₹10,000 to ₹14,000 per square foot. Villas and villa plots are available for sale too. People are also buying empty plots to build houses later.
Developers are offering projects with green parks, good drainage, and clubhouses. This makes the area attractive for families, especially those looking for a quieter place outside the city.
Even though the area is growing, it still has some problems. In 2024, local people protested against a road project that would reduce the width of the road and make it harder for vehicles to move. They wanted the road to be wide and safe for both vehicles and walkers.
Another big problem is garbage. The stretch between Banashankari and Silk Institute has more than 20 garbage black spots. These are places where trash piles up. Footpaths are broken, and people find it hard to walk safely.
In May 2025, there was heavy rain. It caused a stream called Vrishabhavathi to overflow. Garbage from nearby areas blocked parts of the road near Bidadi. Local authorities had to act fast to clean up and restore traffic.
The government has promised many improvements. One big plan is to fully convert the road into a six-lane highway. This will help with the rising number of cars and buses, and make driving safer.
People living in the area are also asking for better footpaths, cycling lanes, and proper waste removal. Resident groups are active and want the road to be clean, wide, and safe for all.
There are also plans to improve connections between Kanakapura Road and NICE Road, and from Bidadi to the Mysuru expressway. These changes will make the area even more attractive for business and families.
Kanakapura Road towards Bidadi is changing fast. The road now has metro stations, better buses, and new housing projects. More people are moving there for work, fresh air, and cheaper homes. The road is getting wider, and prices are going up.
But there are problems too. Some parts are still full of potholes and garbage. There were protests about the road plans. Footpaths are missing in many places. The area needs better planning and faster action from the government.
Still, most people agree that this road has a bright future. It connects the city to industries, tech parks, and peaceful suburbs. If the planned changes are done well, this stretch will become one of the best parts of South Bengaluru.
