If you plan to use the metro often, you have the option to buy a Smart Card from an authorised outlet. To get this smart card, a security deposit is needed. Then, the card remains valid for 30 days or till the pre-loaded cash is over.

The purple line connects the east and west parts of the city, and it has 37 stations. It will take 80 minutes to cover the full distance. The purple metro line starts from Challaghatta in the west and ends at Whitefield in the east. There are 3 interchange stations – Kempegowda, MG Road, and Mysore Road.
The construction work began in April 2007 on the 42.30 km line under Phase 1. In 2011, the became operational. The final section opened on 17th June 2017. On 30th August 2021, the metro extension in the southwest was opened from Mysore Road to Kengeri.
